Old Forde House, a magnificent grade I listed manor house dating back to 1545.
The original house, much smaller than what it is today was built by John Gaverock. The original house can still be seen today with the original front door still in place.
The house was sold to Richard Reynell of the Middle Temple, who from 1610 re-built and enlarged the property. The house is built with an 'E' shape floor plan, which may have been in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth I who had recently died.
It is said that King Charles I had stayed a couple of nights here on his way to Plymouth, the house also sheltered Oliver Cromwell and Sir Thomas Fairfax before the second siege of Exeter in 1646.
Old Forde House after a long history was sold in 1938 to the Sellick Family who used the house for an antiques business.
The house is now owned by Teignbridge District Council who purchased it in 1978.
The house still contains original pieces such as the front door to the older house, staircase and wooden panelling. The old stove and butler's bells are still in-situe.
Old Forde House has many documented hauntings over it's history. A ghostly figure of a lady dressed in white with flowing gowns has been seen walking the ground floor corridor, footsteps heard in the next room. It's been said that staff members have been locked in rooms whilst working, and the feeling of being watched at all times.
On previous occacions we have experienced incredible SLS Camera footage, full-blown estes method conversations with the other side and amazing scrying sessions, sometimes scary!
