SLS Camera

The SLS camera utilises an Xbox Kinect sensor to detect and display human-like shapes that are invisible to the naked eye.

One of our very favourites, the SLS Camera, short for Structured Light Sensor.

The SLS camera utilises an Xbox Kinect sensor to detect and display human-like shapes that are invisible to the naked eye.

Here's how it works:

  1. Infrared Light Emission: The camera emits thousands of infrared light beams into the environment.

  2. Reflection and Time Measurement: When these beams encounter objects, they bounce back to the camera. The camera measures the time it takes for each beam to return, allowing it to calculate the distance between itself and the objects.

  3. Building a 3D Map: The cameras software constructs a detailed 3D map of the surroundings based on the data collected from the reflected infrared dots.

We have captured the most amazing footage with the SLS Camera, we hope you can too!
